study guide for seasons, tides and lunar cycles

Test
be able to write thorough complete answers to the following:
1.       What causes the phases of the moon
2.       What causes the seasons
3.       What causes the tides

Understand Neap and Spring Tides
Know how to draw examples of all of the above questions and recognize errors in the drawings of others.
Be able to reference the lab on angular height of the sun
Explain the significance of the pointing of the axis to the North Star
Be able answer the following
·         if you were standing on the surface of the moon facing earth would you see the earth rise and set?  Would you see the sun rise and set?
·         If you were standing on the surface of the sun would you see the earth rise and set?
·         What is a solstice represent, what happens on the day after a solstice?
·         What does the equinox represent?  Can you explain why this occurs
·         What would life be like at the south pole
·         Why do the different hemispheres have different seasons
·          what is an solar and lunar eclipse
